James Henry Leeke established his company in the Rhondda in 1897. He started trading as a traditional builder's merchant selling ironmongery and hardware from the front room of the family home in a small terraced house in Clydach Vale.
Since then the business has expanded with a Home Improvements Centre based in Tonypandy opening in the mid 1960s and department stores opening in Llantrisant in 1977, Cross Hands in 1984 and Melksham in 1992.
Leekes prides itself on being part of its communities and we are aware of our responsibilities as both a local retailer and international trader. This sense of duty is reflected in our brand values including honesty, enthusiasm, innovation and excellence – values that all our employees aspire to deliver every day.
We set ourselves ambitious targets to ensure our customers receive the best possible service from us in everything we do – from the simplest in-store enquires to the delivery and installation of major improvement projects.
