|ME & MY RECORDS. |
I've been collecting and lovingly caring for my vinyl collection for over 25 years now. Most of my sales are for items from c.2000 onwards, though I do occasionally sell some of my treasured late 80's early 90's pieces too ... rave on! (I was a bit of garagey-ravey-hiphoppy club kid growing up in London, though inevitably tastes have mellowed a bit over the years).
Many thanks for looking, Hak*
Whist individual condition reports for 'Record' & 'Packaging' are always given on each listing, here for comparative reading, are the grades I use for all my record sales. These grades are 'industry standard' and follow the system used by the Record Collectors Guild / Goldmine. In addition to these grades any specific issues will be mentioned as necessary and detail photos provided to highlight them.
Also, please note that the vast majority of my 7" vinyl was NEVER PLAYED (I went a little singles crazy all through the 00's, often buying multiples) and listing them as 'near mint' is just me erring on the side of caution - they've been really fantastically well cared for! I only ever use 'mint' for perfect items that are still factory sealed.
MINT CONDITION :
An absolutely perfect record and packaging, still in factory sealed shrink wrap and thus never played.
NEAR MINT CONDITION :
A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear (whilst the packaging may be opened, the record may well be unplayed).
The sleeve has no more than the most minor of defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of careful handling. The cover has no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects, the same being true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sheets, etc.
VERY GOOD CONDITION :
The record may show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous careful owner. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or light scratches that don't affect the listening experience or slight warps that do not affect the sound.
The sleeves may have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. The cover may have slight signs of wear also, such as minor creases, folds or very small seam wear/splits.
GOOD CONDITION :
A record in this condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. However there may be significant surface noise and scratches or visible groove wear.
The sleeve or cover may have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine, whilst tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the packaging.
Being a long term collector myself I fully realise the importance of carefully packaging records to withstand the rigours of the postal system, especially internationally. I take great care when posting all my vinyl so that your records arrive in the condition advertised.
Unless Mint & Sealed, records are first removed from cover & placed in new paper sleeves to prevent seam splits. 7" singles are mailed in new high quality Defenda Music Max boxes, whilst 12" records are posted in Defenda Music Max boxes / reinforced cruciform style mailers.
I trust this approach is reflected in the customer comments I receive, for which a selection of vinyl specific feedback is shown below:
