BY MEASUREMENTS
Pull all of your hair off your face. Use a headband, clips or bobbi pins to secure the hair. Measure across the tops of your cheekbones. Start at the outer corner of your eye, carefully laying the tape across the bridge of your nose to opposite side. Write down this length. CHEEKS: ___________

Measure your jawline by starting at the base of your ear to the middle of your chin. Write this number down. You will need to multiply by 2 to get the final measurement.
JAW: _____ x 2 = ______

Find the widest point of your forehead between your eyebrows and your hairline. Now place the tape at this starting point and measure from one side of your forehead to the other. Write this measurement down.
FOREHEAD: ___________

Now measure the length of your face. Begin at the middle of your hairline and measure to the tip of your chin.
LENGTH: ___________

OVAL SHAPED FACE
LENGTH =1.5 TIMES WIDTH
When you measured your face, your length was equal to about one and half times width. Your face is only slightly narrower at the jaw line than the temples, with a gently rounded hairline.
Best Choices: As your face is balanced and proportionate, you can wear almost any style. You will look your best in styles that are off your face, accentuating your face shape.

Avoid: Styles with lots of forward direction, which may add weight to your face.

ROUND SHAPED FACE
LENGTH =WIDTH
When you measured your face, your face is approximately as wide as it is long. You have a round chin and a round hairline.
Best Choices: Styles that add fullness and height at the crown. You can wear short styles that have a swept back direction or styles that are longer than chin length. Styles with layers and where the rest of the hairpiece is relatively close to your face, your face will appear longer and more narrow.

Avoid: Chin length hair as it mirrors your faces circular shape making your face appear wider. Avoid very chopped styles or fullness at the at ear level.

SQUARE SHAPED FACE
LENGTH =WIDTH BUT WITH ANGLES INSTEAD OF ROUNDED
When you measured your face it is about as wide as it is long but with a strong, square jawline and a square hairline.
Best Choices: short to medium length styles, especially those with a wave or roundness, loose curls or wavy, swept forward around the face. Styles with curl or wave will balance your straight symmetrical features. Side fringes.

Avoid: Long straight style or straight fringes anything that is too linear.

OBLONG SHAPED FACE
LENGTH IS GREATER THAN WIDTH
When you measured your face it is longer than it is wide. It is about the same width at the forehead as is just below the cheekbones. Individuals with oblong shape may have a very narrow chin or a very high forehead. Your face appears long and slender.
Best Choices: Styles that are medium-long or short in length will minimise the length of your face. Layers add softness to the straight lines of your face. Layers will soften the angles in your face, fullness in the middle of face around the eyes, cheekbones and ears, straight bangs or swept across the forehead and waves/curls which can add volume and the illusion of balance.

Avoid: Longer styles can make your face look longer but if balanced with a straight more blunt fringe below eyebrow, long straight or wavy styles can work as the fringe reduces the length of your face. Avoid height at the top.

TRIANGLE/PEARSHAPED
FACE
LENGTH IS GREATER THAN WIDTH
WITH CHIN WIDER THAN FORHEAD
When you measured your face you will of found that it is characterised by a narrow forehead and is widest at the jaw, with a round chin.
Best Choices: The best styles will create width at your forehead and temples giving the illusion of an Oval face. Hair should be styles close to the head at the upper parts and at the nape, to minimise width at the jawline.

Avoid: Full long styles the emphasise the jawline

HEART SHAPED FACE
TOP CHEEKBONES GREATER CHIN
When you measured your face you will of found it was narrow at the jaw line and wide at the cheekbones and forehead. Your face appears wide at the temples and narrows to a small delicate chin.
Best Choices: Longer styles or chin length, side swept fringes and forward layers around the upper face, sweeping fringes.

Avoid: Short full styles with tapered necklines will emphasise the upper face and make you look top-heavy. Too much weight at crown will give the appearance of a longer more narrow chin. Avoid slicked back or super short.

DIAMOND SHAPED FACE
TOP CHEEKBONES GREATER CHIN &
FOREHEAD WHICH ARE EQUAL
When you measured your face you will of found that your face is widest at the cheekbones. With a narrow forehead and chin. Your forehead and jawline are approximately equal width. Your shape is a cross between a heart and an oval.

Best Choices: everything works with your balanced face shape. Try a variety of styles.

Avoid: You can wear almost anything. If you choose styles with a lot hair around the face, you will hide your great features.
