The Appliance Company was initiated in 2014 under the name of the Fridge and Freezer Company taking graded product from Liebherr whom we also performed logistic support by handling all their trade shows (Grand Designs, Ideal Home etc..) from stock holding to delivery we manage this process on their behalf. Be it a show or a VIP delivery we ensure seamless completion. We progressed in to purchasing these units post shows (Graded stock) recognising that we could offer a significant discount on a high-end product that was not readily available.
This has progressed with further suppliers of high-end white goods finding increasingly that supplying a broader range of products that our name needed to reflect this diversity. Hence The Appliance Company has now taken on the progress initiated in 2014. Predominantly an online sales business to mitigate cost reducing overheads we sell nationally up and down the country in equal measure, supported by our logistics arm Spexmo (who still perform specialised logistics to a variety of premium brands).
Our day on day objective is to deliver a quality service to support our product range and provide high end products at an affordable cost to everyone and ensure that what we do exceeds common expectations from suppliers to end users.
What is graded stock?
One of the inherent problems within the retail environment is warehousing or logistics, increasing the possibility of damages, due to poor handling, one would go so far as to suggest, personnel within the industry often see “brown boxes”, and have total disregard for the value of the contents, one brown box after another, which is further compounded by the lack of suitable vehicles and logistics equipment.
Added to this, Manufacturers, like Liebherr, compete aggressively to secure position in a suitable Retailer’s Store, after all, without being prominently displayed, products would accumulate in a centralized warehouse, without exposure to you the consumer, and would therefore remain a “secret”.
Products could remain on display for up to 3 or 4 years. Whilst on display, although apparently functional, ALL Liebherr display units, are set onto “DEMO MODE”, lighting gives the impression that the products are functional, but in actual fact, only the lights, and electronic displays are functional, hence, very little wear and tear.
Although previously the “lifecycle” of Appliances could have been several years, this has changed considerably over the last 2 or 3 decades, smaller more functional homes are in greater demand, not only for the young family, but also for the empty nesters, hence the kitchen has in many cases become the “family room”, the net result being the lifecycle of appliances, has become considerably shorter, possibly 2 years, vs 5 – 7 years previously, due to improvements in design, colour and efficiencies.
This further compounds the continuous increase in B-Stock, or Graded Stock.
Graded stock is determined by it’s appearance.
Jon Haigh Director
Jon has a colourful background in business to match his enthusiastic can-do personality, a professional windsurfer who has represented England and won competitions all over the world in his youth. Jon set up his own logistic business with a focus on niche movement of products with a non-negotiable approach to service and quality, growing this into a multimillion-pound turnover operation over years of hard work, commitment to value and vision. He sold the business in 2013. Without a thought of putting his feet up Jon went straight into this new business with a view to grow this into something that delivers advantage to both consumers and sellers alike.
Ian Fender Director
Ian began professional life at Robert Bosch in Hayes Middx where he rose through the ranks to become Head of Concessions running the day to day operational support of customer replacements. He left to pursue his desire to work within sales and joined Unilever as business development manager when soon asked to Join Zenith Hygiene a fledgling business with huge aspirations, when he started it had a turnover of around 500K and left with a turnover of in excess of 60M. Ian was instrumental in delivering global brands to the business and led the National Accounts a portfolio of the stellar high street brands. Ian has run sales teams and business development with tremendous success and intends to carry that on with The Appliance Company.
Daniel Isherwood Online Sales manager
Daniel joined the business in January 2019 to manage our online sales channels eBay, Amazon, Facebook and our Webstore. From product listings to customer services Daniel has embraced all of the key aspects of our business and has added much value to the business flow. Having previously managed an eBay business selling replica flowers his experience in pushing product listings to the top has been invaluable in growing our sales and positive reviews.
